TEWIN BURY FARM SNOWY WINTER WEDDING – LIZ AND DAVE

TEWIN BURY FARM SNOWY WINTER WEDDING – LIZ AND DAVE

"WE ARE SO INCREDIBLY GLAD THAT NAOMI WAS SUCH AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR WEDDING DAY. HER EXPLORATIVE ATTITUDE, UNOBTRUSIVE NATURE AND WONDERFUL PERSONALITY WERE JUST WHAT WE NEEDED. SHE CAPTURED SO MUCH JOY, LOVE AND LAUGHTER IN ALL OF OUR GUESTS. NAOMI IS SO CREATIVE. SHE WAS ALWAYS OPEN TO OUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS. NOT ONLY DID WE ENJOY HER COMPANY AND WORK ON THE DAY BUT MANY OF OUR GUESTS HAVE SUNG NAOMI’S PRAISES. WE FELT IN SAFE HANDS AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND NAOMI. "

Liz and Dave got married this March in the rustic Tythe Barn, which is part of the beautiful Tewin Bury Farm in Hertfordshire. Their wedding was the first one I'd shot in snow (and almost got snowed in at the end) and although the weather was pretty ace - the main thing I remember from their big day was how joyful it felt. Every little part of the day from the getting ready to the party and big shape throwing at the end was filled to the very brim with so much joy. Yes I'm certain there was some jittery nerves (Pretty sure just about everyone feels those!), and a few worries about guests arriving (or being able to leave) but joy was overflowing from this pair's very beings and spilled over into their crowd and everyone who surrounded them. There was SO MUCH love in the room.

Getting ready

Liz got ready in a room on-site at Tewin Bury Farm with her bridesmaids and the atmosphere was super chilled. There was a bit of bubbly, and a reveal of the dress to Liz's dad before we left - which is always a bit of am emotional moment, added to the emotion of Liz's mum finishing off her outfit by putting on Liz's necklace and there was happy tears all round!  I took a few snaps of everyone all fresh and ready, then we all walked together to the ceremony through the snow which was still falling!

The ceremony

The ceremony was an intimate service in the barn. Surrounded by festoon lights and their nearest and dearest, the atmosphere was cosy with the soft light from a whole host of hand made decorations filled with fairy lights . During the ceremony they read their own vows. It was such a personal service and so emotional. Happy tears were definitely shed <3.

The reception

The reception was held in the barn at the venue, so whilst this room was being turned from ceremony to wedding breakfast, guests were free to mill around the ground (if they dared brave the weather) or able to enjoy drinks and canapès in the bar just across from the barn.

They decorated the venue with lots of hand made items - glass bulbs hanging on ribbon with fairy lights inside, along with terrarium centre pieces, lots of gold glitter and festoon lights which created the perfect ambience for their winter wedding. The decorations were a real labour of love with blood, sweat and tears going into making them. Literally!! Liz managed to give herself a pretty impressive cut in her hand when one of the lightbulb decorations broke in her hands and had to go for a jaunt down to A&E!!

The couple

Liz wore two separates as her outfit for the day - a beautiful lace top made by Emma Seychell who works at Shakespeare's Globe with Liz (perks of working with some incredible makers) and the best tulle skirt which was frothy and light and beautiful from Watters by Willoughby. Liz’s shoes, that could not have been better for the weather were Irregular Choice ivory lace up boots with a Victorian feel and she finished the outfit with a necklace from ETSY and some Dinny Hall earrings.  Dave wore a dapper suit and tie from T M Lewin and a crisp shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt, brown brogues from Dune, along with a rather nice Skagen watch and some awesome cufflinks from Grateful Dead.  Together these two looked perfect.

The couple met in High School and have now been together for 10 years. They got in touch with me in March last year and as I'd been recommended by a previous bride, I knew these two were going to be legends. They said they wanted candid, fun photos of their big day and I loved that they were so relaxed. Being at Liz and Dave's wedding was the absolute best. I felt like I'd been friends with this pair for years. The fact these two trusted me completely and were brave enough to go and have a play in the snow for their couple shoot was completely epic.

Liz and Dave’s wedding was so much fun and they had an incredible crowd to help them celebrate. Thank you so much for having me along!!

 Here’s their awesome wedding!
